Notre Dame School is blessed to have a dedicated Inclusive Education team:
- One full-time Learning Resource Teacher
- Three full-time Educational Assistants
- Four part-time Educational Assistants
Together with classroom and specialty teachers, the Inclusive Education team supports learners with various strengths, stretches, needs, and programs to help all Notre Dame students succeed in the classroom.
Notre Dame offers:
- Integrated case management, connecting with community partners and contracting professionals where needed, such as Speech and Language Pathologists, Counsellors, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, and Children and Youth Mental Health
- Competency-Based Inclusive Education Plans for students with Ministry of Education designations
- Annual Instruction Plans for English Language Learners
- Student Learning Plans for students requiring additional intervention
- Classroom Educational Assistant time to help facilitate small group learning class-wide
- School-based team support for students requiring additional support in different domains (i.e. behavioural or social-emotional)
- Educational Assistants who have training in programs such as Orton Gillingham, Reference & Regulate, Social Thinking, delegated caregivers, de-escalation, and support of multiple needs
- A menu of support from the Learning Resource Teacher, including progress monitoring, co-teaching, small group intervention, observation & consultation, EA support, technology support, resource creation, and crisis prevention
