Field trips are an integral part of the education program at Notre Dame School as they provide children with unique experiences within the context of the curriculum being taught. Together, children discover new insights into a learning concept with their classmates.
A permission letter will be sent home, including specific information for each field trip. The permission letter will indicate the curriculum area of study, location, transportation, supervision, cost, date and time of the field trip. CIS policy requires that written permission by the legal parent/guardian must be obtained before students are permitted to leave the school. Permission must be granted by signature on the official field trip permission slip. By using the correct form, we are ensuring that parents/guardians have received pertinent information concerning the trip.
Declaration of medical conditions, emergency numbers and contact name must also be provided.
Transportation for field trips may be by bus or walking unless special arrangements have been made through the office.
When volunteering for field trips, please note the following:
- A volunteer form must be completed by every parent/guardian wishing to volunteer at Notre Dame School.
- Parent volunteers are required to have a current Criminal Record Check on file in the office. These may take up to 3 – 6 weeks.
- Siblings may not join the class on a field trip.
- Volunteer drivers must have a current driver’s abstract on file in the office. A copy of a current driver’s licence, a volunteer driver form, and a copy of vehicle insurance are also required in advance.
All the forms needed for volunteers can be picked up at the office or sent home with your child at your request.
